What a personal year 6 is about
After the loose year comes the year of obligation. Numerology's sixth season is written up in terms of household, care, repair and responsibility to people who did not ask your permission to need you, and the older books say marriage and family so often that the number is sometimes mistaken for a prediction about both. It is not one. Six is the position in the cycle where the tradition points the attention inward, at what is already yours to look after.
The calculation stays the same across all nine positions. Birth month reduced, birth day reduced, calendar year reduced, added together, reduced once more, with your birth year sitting the whole thing out. Because 2026 reduces to 1, a personal 6 in 2026 belongs to birth dates whose month and day reduce to 5: 4 January, 3 February, 2 March, 1 April, 9 May, 8 June, 7 July, 6 August, 5 September and 23 September among them.
One caution the sources themselves raise. A year described as being about other people is easy to read as a year in which other people behave differently, and no numerologist claims that. What is on offer is a lens, several generations old, that says this position of the cycle concerns the domestic and the owed. Whether your particular twelve months look anything like that is not something the number knows.
The 6 year month by month
JanuaryPersonal month 7
January opens on a personal 7, which is an unusually quiet start. Numerologists give the month to thinking, and this year has plenty to think about.
FebruaryPersonal month 8
February is a personal 8. Practical weight arrives early, and the tradition reads it as the year working out what it can actually carry.
MarchPersonal month 9
The personal 9 in March ends something at the first quarter. Old texts put the year's clearing here, before the domestic business properly begins.
AprilPersonal month 1
A personal 1 arrives in April, so the year restarts a third of the way in. The step up from March's 9 is where the twelve months turn over.

A personal 2 in May slows things to the pace of whoever else is involved, which in this year is most people.
JunePersonal month 3
By June the personal month reaches 3 and the year finds its voice. Company, conversation, the domestic subject discussed rather than only managed.

July is a personal 4: hours, method, maintenance. The least decorative month in a year that the tradition often decorates.

October returns to a personal 7. A second quiet month, and the sources describe this one as taking stock of what was repaired.

Counting comes back around in November on a personal 8, with ten months of obligation behind it now.
DecemberPersonal month 9
The year finishes on a personal 9, the cycle's ending number landing on the calendar's ending month, which is the neatest alignment the nine positions get.

How the number is worked out
The birth year is deliberately left out. That single omission is what makes this number move: the Life Path uses all three parts of a birth date and never changes, while the personal year swaps one part for the calendar and lands somewhere new every January.
Because the universal year advances by one each year and your birth month and day stay put, your personal year also advances by one each year. Nine years later it comes back around. Whichever calendar year you are looking at, the table opposite says which birth month and day sums land on 6.
Two conventions are worth naming. Your birth month and day are reduced by value, so November is 11 and the 22nd is 22; some books add the digits first and get 2 and 4 instead. And some numerologists keep a master number in the final answer rather than collapsing it. This site does not, because a nine-position cycle has nowhere to put a tenth and eleventh position. Where a master number turns up on the way down, the working shows it.

What comes after a 6 year
Personal year 7 follows, and the tradition treats it as the door closing. Where the 6 year is crowded with other people, the 7 is the position given to solitude, study and the questions that only get asked when nobody is in the room. Numerologists describe the handover as the cycle's deliberate withdrawal, placed just before the year associated with results. What the 6 season spent on others, the 7 season is supposed to spend on understanding something.

Twelve months. On this site it runs from 1 January to 31 December, so your number changes at midnight on New Year's Eve along with the universal year.
No. Older numerology books mention marriage under this number often enough that the association stuck, but they are describing what they think the season is about, not scheduling anything. No number on a calendar arranges a wedding.
Anyone whose birth month and birth day reduce to 5, because 5 and the universal 1 make 6. That takes in 4 January, 3 February, 2 March, 1 April, 9 May, 8 June, 7 July, 6 August, 5 September and 23 September.
Younger than most people assume. The nine-year cycle in this exact form belongs to modern Western numerology, which took its present shape in American books published from around 1910 onward, and it was built by writers who were assembling a system rather than inheriting an intact one. Pythagorean number lore is genuinely ancient, but the specific move of adding your birth month and day to the current calendar year is a twentieth-century invention. It is worth knowing which parts of a tradition are old and which parts were written the same decade as the telephone directory.
