Where Ultra Lotto 6/58 came from

Picking numbers, honestly

What actually changes your odds (nothing) and what doesn't (this).

Six numbers all under 32 have the same chance as any other six out of 58, so a birthday slip is not a worse ticket. The catch is the 27 numbers from 32 to 58 that most players skip. Choosing some of them doesn't raise your odds of winning, only your odds of not splitting the prize if you do.

A long rollover doesn't make the jackpot more likely to fall. Ultra Lotto went months without a winner before October 2018, and each of those draws still had the same 1 in 40,475,358 chance of producing one. Balls have no memory of the draws before them, and a growing pot changes the prize, not the probability.

Ultra Lotto's jackpots are the biggest PCSO offers because the game is the hardest to win, not despite it. Adding three balls to the 6/55 format cut the chance of a jackpot by about 28 percent, which is precisely why the pot survives long enough to reach nine and ten figures.

Each of these has a longer answer with the arithmetic shown. Start with whether a number can be due and what the most-drawn numbers really tell you. If you are weighing a quick pick against your own line, the comparison is here.

Ultra Lotto 6/58 — frequently asked

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 9pm Manila time.

₱1,180,622,508, drawn on 14 October 2018 and split between two winning tickets. It is still the largest lottery prize in Philippine history.

Because the pool is bigger. Six numbers from 58 give 40,475,358 combinations, against 28,989,675 for 6/55 and 8,145,060 for 6/45. Longer odds mean fewer winners, which is what lets the jackpot roll up to the sizes 6/58 is known for.

₱25 for one six-number bet since 1 February 2026, documentary stamp tax included. The same slip can cover up to six consecutive draws, and system entries covering seven to twelve numbers cost more because each one prints multiple combinations.

No. One machine, 58 balls, six drawn. Every prize division is decided by how many of your six numbers appear among those six, and nothing is drawn afterwards to break ties or split tiers.
