Leo and Sagittarius, in brief
One of these signs wants the room. The other wants the door. Tradition still files the pairing as a trine, and tradition is mostly right about it.

Leo is fixed fire, the kind that sustains a position, a role or an arrangement and resents having it altered. Both are physically confident and neither is playing for position, which skips most of the manoeuvring other pairings spend a year on.
Departure is the recurring test. Sagittarius periodically needs to be somewhere else, and it is not a verdict on the relationship. Leo experiences a partner leaving as a partner choosing something else, since solar attention is exclusive by nature. This couple has that argument for years in small versions: the trip booked before it was discussed, the weekend given away, the answer that sounded like a maybe. What tradition offers is a decent description of the shape, ideally before the third repetition.
As friends
Friendship is the strongest room in this pairing. Leo is loyal past the point of evidence and Sagittarius is entertaining without wanting to be central, so nobody is competing for the same chair. The mismatch surfaces in follow-through. Leo commits to a direction and then defends it, sometimes well past the point where it is still the right direction. Where it goes wrong
The classic collision is a single blunt sentence. Sagittarius says something accurate about Leo's work, weight, partner or judgment, without malice and frequently without noticing. Leo does not raise it, because raising it would mean admitting it stung, and the sources are consistent that wounded pride rather than disloyalty is what damages this sign. Sagittarius has long since moved on and would be appalled to learn the remark is still in circulation.
The second is who is allowed to be uninterested. Leo needs the relationship treated as the main event. Sagittarius needs a life containing things the relationship is not part of. Neither is being unreasonable and both are described as defaults rather than decisions. Because the two signs treat a frank remark as different objects. Jupiter-ruled fire says the true thing as a contribution and expects it to be received that way. Sun-ruled fire hears any public correction as a dent in standing, and standing is the thing Leo actually defends. The remark is over in four seconds for one of them and open for two weeks for the other.
Leo, and it presents as injured pride rather than suspicion.
That is the usual reading and it skips over mode, which is where these two split. Fixed fire wants the arrangement kept as it is. Mutable fire wants the option of changing it. Same energy, opposite instincts about what to do with it, and the shared element is exactly why the difference is easy to miss for the first year.
