Leo and Taurus, in brief
Ninety degrees apart, and both signs are fixed. That combination does not produce a race. It produces a standoff with very good food in it.
A square joins the same mode to incompatible elements, and in fixed mode neither party has any instinct to adjust. Cardinal squares argue over who starts. Mutable squares dissolve into something else halfway through. A fixed square just holds, on both sides, for as long as it takes. Older texts describe fixed signs as the ones that sustain a season rather than open or close it, and sustaining is precisely what these two do to a disagreement.

Physically the tradition rates this well and the reasoning is easy to follow. Taurus is the most sensory sign on the wheel, Leo the most demonstrative, so affection here is neither scarce nor subtle. Loyalty runs unusually solid too. Two fixed signs that have settled on each other do not drift, and neither has any appetite for the theatre of leaving.
Attention is where the currencies fail to convert. Leo shows love by making a production of it and expects something comparable back. Taurus shows love by being there, paying for things and not going anywhere, and finds announcing any of that mildly absurd. A Leo waiting on applause from a Taurus is waiting for a gesture the other sign simply does not own. What arrives instead is continuity, which reads as flat right up until the year it turns out to be the only thing that held.
As friends
The friendship is durable and a little territorial. Both are generous hosts with firm views on how a thing should be done, so it works best when they are not doing the same thing at once. Put them in charge of one party and Leo wants a guest list while Taurus wants a menu, and the negotiation outlasts the party.
What keeps it going is that neither sign gives up on people. Fixed signs hold friendships decades past the point of convenience, and both of these keep turning up. Arguments between them rarely end in a break. They end with a topic quietly retired from conversation, sometimes for good.

The second is stimulation against routine. Leo wants a life with occasions in it and reads a quiet month as evidence the relationship has gone dull. Taurus wants Sunday to resemble last Sunday and reads the appetite for events as instability. Each is describing personal comfort as the correct setting. Because mode determines how a sign handles pressure. Cardinal signs push, mutable signs adapt, and fixed signs hold position. In a square between two fixed signs there is no built-in mechanism for either side to bend, so disagreements do not resolve on their own. They wait.
Usually with a specific concession rather than a general apology. Leo needs the acknowledgment said out loud, Taurus needs the request to be concrete and finite. Vague peacemaking gets nowhere with either of them.
They do, and the shared taste hides how differently they use it. Sun-ruled luxury is for the occasion and the people at it. Venus-ruled luxury is for the person who owns it, quietly, on an ordinary Tuesday. Same budget, completely different reason, and it is one of the more reliable sources of tension between them.
