Aries and Taurus, in brief
Neighbours on the wheel, 30 degrees apart. Classical astrology calls that a semisextile and files it among the minor aspects, largely because adjacent signs have nothing structural in common.
Look at the list and the gap is total. Aries is fire, Taurus is earth. Aries is cardinal, Taurus is fixed. One is a yang sign and one is a yin sign. Astrologers read the semisextile as low-grade irritation rather than open conflict, two signs close enough to notice each other and short of any shared vocabulary for what they notice. What makes this particular version more interesting than most is the rulers: Mars and Venus, the pair the whole tradition uses as shorthand for attraction, sitting on signs with no common ground underneath them.
In practice the fire sign moves before the information is in, which is roughly the point of Aries, and the earth sign declines to move until the case has been made, which is roughly the point of Taurus. Neither finds the other reasonable. Aries experiences Taurus as a brake applied for no stated reason. Taurus experiences Aries as noise arriving without a plan attached to it. The Mars and Venus reading is the strongest card this pairing holds, and it is a real one. Attraction between these two tends to establish itself fast and physically. Taurus is the most sensory sign in the zodiac, Aries the most direct, so the early weeks rarely involve much confusion about whether interest exists.
The pace question shows up around month two. Aries wants the thing defined and moving. Taurus wants to live in it a while before anyone names it, and neither position yields to argument, because fixed signs do not respond to urgency and cardinal signs do not respond to being told to wait. Couples in this combination who last tend to have stopped trying to convert each other somewhere in the first year.
As friends
As friends the difference is far easier to carry, since nobody has to run a shared calendar. Aries supplies the plan and the momentum. Where it goes wrong
Money is the argument that keeps coming back, and it is not about the amount. Aries spends quickly on things that solve a problem today. Taurus spends slowly on things that will still be worth owning in ten years, and reads an impulse purchase as evidence of something worse than carelessness. The same disagreement returns attached to a car, a holiday, a sofa, a decision to leave a job.
The second one is temper against silence. Aries argues at volume, considers it settled eleven minutes later, and moves on. Taurus does not work on that schedule, goes quiet, and is still not finished two days afterward. Aries reads the silence as punishment. Taurus reads the speed as proof that nothing was taken seriously. Astrology offers no fix for this and does not claim to. Sun-sign compatibility is the coarsest layer of a system that was never built to say how a particular couple handles a particular Tuesday.

It is the 30-degree angle between neighbouring signs. The scoring is low because the tradition builds compatibility out of shared element, shared mode and shared polarity, and consecutive signs share none of the three by design. Astrologers describe the effect as friction without drama: not hostility, just two people whose defaults never line up.
