How to wear electric blue

What tradition suggests, and the days it gets in the way.

Pairs well with

Three combinations that hold up, and why each one works.

Bronze

Uranus against the Sun's warm metal. Bronze stops electric blue reading as corporate, which is its default failure mode.

Storm grey

Within the family. Grey lets a saturated cobalt hold one place in an outfit instead of taking the whole thing.

Scarlet

4 with 9. High risk, high reward: the two most saturated families on the site, so use one as a thread and never as a second panel.

Electric blue across cultures

No colour means the same thing everywhere. The notes that complicate the tidy version.

Vedic astrology

Rahu, the eclipse-maker, wears smoky blue-black; its gem is hessonite, the colour of dark honey and shadow.

Modern West

Uranus, discovered in 1781 and named for the sky god, brought electric blue into the tables, the colour of storms and static.

East Asia

A separate system entirely: the word for four sounds like the word for death in Chinese and Japanese, so the number, not the colour, carries the caution there.

Electric blue as a lucky colour — frequently asked

Because the old table only held seven. Vedic numerology gave the leftover numbers to the lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu; Western numerology waited for telescopes and gave them to Uranus and Neptune. Number 4 got Rahu in one system and Uranus in the other, and the colours happened to converge.

In the tradition, yes, with the caveat that this is the least settled correspondence in the set. Wear it because the reading fits the day, not because a source stated it confidently.

Different system entirely. In Chinese, Japanese and Korean the word for four sounds close to the word for death, which is why some buildings skip the fourth floor. It is a phonetic accident, it has nothing to do with planets, and it attaches to the number rather than the colour.

Aquarius, through Uranus, its modern ruler. Saturn was Aquarius's classical ruler, which is why the sign also turns up on the number 8 list. Both are correct inside their own scheme.

Hessonite garnet, called gomed, in the Vedic system. It is Rahu's stone and its colour is dark honey, one of several places where a number's stone and its cloth do not match.

The other eight colours

One per root number, each inherited from its own planet.
