There is a real fit here and it is about accuracy. An 11 reads people involuntarily and correctly, and an 8's professional life is largely a series of judgements about people made with incomplete information. An 8 who learns to take an 11's read seriously has an advantage most of their peers do not, and the tradition describes 11s as accurate beyond what training explains.
What is harder is the reassurance gap. An 11 in love is intense early and needs more reassurance than they will admit to needing, and an 8's register is provision rather than words. The 8 will solve the problem, pay the thing, handle the situation, and the tradition is blunt that presence is not a resource you can substitute money for. An 11 needs presence specifically, and will not ask for it, because being unable to see what they need themselves is not how this number likes to appear.
As friends
Better balanced than the romance. An 11 friend tells an 8 the truth about a colleague, which an 8 usually finds out eighteen months later at some expense, and an 8 friend tells an 11 what their work is worth and refuses to let them accept less, which is a service nobody else in an 11's life performs.
