Where the number came from
3 + 1 = 4
Neither list mentions the other. Nothing is added or taken away, and the parity tiebreak decides whether the pair moves off three.
Then +1 on the odd-and-even tiebreak.
What they share
The Builder and The Seeker
Two people who both want the door shut do not argue about the door. Neither number appears in the other's lists. Four is even and 7 is odd, so the parity tiebreak lifts the pairing to 4. What that arithmetic is standing in for, on the two readings themselves, is one of the better unwritten fits on the chart.
Both archetypes want the same working conditions and say so in almost the same words. Numerology puts 7s in roles with long time horizons and few interruptions and reads them badly where constant availability is required. It puts 4s under clear scope and specific standards and reads them badly under vague deliverables and constant reprioritising. Two people who each need the door shut do not fight about the door.
Where they diverge is what the work is for. A 4 wants a method that holds. A 7 wants to understand the thing and is largely indifferent to whether anyone can repeat it afterwards. That is a real disagreement and it is a small one, which is roughly what a 4 out of 5 should mean.
This is undramatic and unusually restful for both. A 7 in love is loyal, private and slower to open than nearly anyone they will date, and a 4 does not experience that as a verdict, because a 4 is not monitoring the relationship for signals. Where a 2 would check and a 6 would give more, a 4 gets on with something and assumes the situation is what it was last week.
The 7's silences, which are the standing hazard of this number's relationships, therefore land almost harmlessly. What does eventually strain is that neither person volunteers anything. Sevens are described as rarely thinking to say out loud that a quiet spell is not about the other person, and 4s are described as showing commitment by being there rather than by saying so. Two people expressing themselves entirely through non-verbal reliability can go a decade without an emotional conversation, and mostly not miss it, and occasionally very badly need one.
Low-frequency and high-substance. A 4 friend brings a practical problem and a 7 friend takes it apart further than asked, which the 4 finds genuinely useful about half the time and impractical the rest. Neither reads a three-month silence as anything at all. The pairing also produces almost no small talk, which both of them experience as a relief and everybody around them finds slightly forbidding. A 4 and a 7 at the same table will say nine things in an hour and mean all nine.
Professionally this pairing is better than the tradition's silence suggests. A 7 given a hard problem and left alone is the version of that archetype everyone benefits from, and a 4 is temperamentally willing to leave somebody alone and then hold them to a standard afterwards. Research with an engineer attached, or a diagnosis with somebody who will build the process around it, is the recognisable shape.
Money is a shared failure with different causes and no correction. A 7 undercharges because pricing a thing is less interesting than doing it, producing unclaimed expenses and a decade at a rate that stopped being market in year four. A 4's version is conservatism: holding a safe position for a decade past the point it stopped growing. Neither of them is going to be the one who asks for more, and both would describe the other's inertia as prudence.
The recurring disagreement is about whether the answer is enough. A 7 solves something and moves on, satisfied, with nothing written down. A 4 wants the solution turned into a repeatable procedure, because a solution that only exists inside one person's head is, to this archetype, not finished. Both positions are defensible and neither number is good at conceding a defensible position.
The second is that both of them drift toward isolation and neither notices. Numerology names it explicitly for the 7, describing a quiet month turning into a smaller circle turning into a quieter month. The 4's version is subtler and arrives disguised as productivity, a full calendar standing in for a life. A household with two of these has no natural mechanism for making a phone call, and this is one of the pairings where a good rating and a good outcome are furthest apart.
The tradition never pairs them, so the 4 comes from the odd-and-even tiebreak. On the readings themselves the two want the same working conditions, which is a stronger fit than the silence suggests.
Much less than it bothers most numbers. A 4 is not monitoring for signals, so a quiet fortnight reads as a quiet fortnight.
Whether the answer is enough. A 7 solves it and moves on, and a 4 does not consider anything finished until it is a procedure somebody else could follow.
Both numbers drift toward isolation, one openly and one disguised as a full calendar, and neither has an instinct for picking up the phone.
