Where the number came from
3 + 1 = 4
One number names the other as an easy match and the other list says nothing back. Half the agreement, so half the points: one.
What they share
The Guardian and The Master Builder
Somebody has to keep insisting that the life the building is for actually exists. Life Path 22 names 6 in its compatible list and 6 says nothing back, which is how the single digits generally behave toward the masters. A one-way match is worth a point, so the pairing rates 4.
The tradition's phrasing is unusually pointed: a 6 builds the life the work is supposedly for and keeps insisting it exists. That sentence is doing two jobs. It describes what a 6 contributes and it quietly identifies the 22's standing problem, which is that the life the work is for tends to be theoretical.
Twenty-two is a 4 at architectural scale, suited to projects that take a decade and outlive whoever started them. Six is the home number. Numerology says most 22 relationships fail on absence rather than on incompatibility, and this is the pairing the tradition apparently thinks has the best chance of surviving it.
This starts steady rather than dramatic and neither person minds. A 22 is present in practical ways and often working, and a 6 reads practical presence as real, having spent their own life expressing affection the same way. What a 6 does that other partners do not is refuse to let the household become notional: there are meals, there are occasions, there is a life running in parallel to the build whether or not the 22 attends it.
The failure, when it comes, is a slow one and the tradition names it without reference to the partner's number. A 22 in the middle of building something can be absent for years while technically at home. A 6's response to that distance is to give more, which the reading says has never once produced closeness on this path, and which in practice makes the absence more comfortable for everyone and easier to extend.
Sturdy and one-sided in effort, with the 6 doing the maintaining and not counting it. A 22 will disappear for eight months and reappear expecting the friendship to be where it was, and with a 6 it is, which is not true of most of the other people in a 22's life.
What the 6 gets is competence. When a 6 is genuinely in trouble, a 22 will turn up and solve the structural part of the problem in a weekend without requiring the emotional part to be discussed, and for a number that is used to being the fixer that is a rare and welcome inversion. It is also the only occasion on which a 22 is fully present, which a 6 notices and does not mention.
Professionally the fit is real. Numerology sends 22s into architecture, engineering, founding institutions and public infrastructure, and sends 6s where duty of care is written into the role. A 22 builds the school and a 6 makes it somewhere children want to be, which is a division of labour that a great many institutions actually run on.
Money splits along predictable lines. A 22 wants capital because the project needs it and will plough returns straight back in, with scale mismatch named as this path's characteristic failure. A 6 earns steadily and spends on other people. Neither is accumulating for themselves, and the tradition's advice to the 6, which is to keep something separate, is the one financial instruction in this household anybody would benefit from following. Whether either of them follows it is a different question, and the answer is usually no.
The recurring cost is that the 6's insistence gets treated as an interruption. A 22 mid-build experiences a request to be at dinner as a request to stop, and does not distinguish between an evening and a delay. A 6 will not say the request twice. They will make the dinner anyway, and eat it, and add the absence to a ledger the 22 has no idea exists.
The second is the 22's self-expectation, which numerologists describe bluntly: many spend decades feeling they are underperforming their own number, measuring an ordinary good life against a monument. A 6's instinct with that is to reassure, warmly and repeatedly, which is precisely the wrong instrument. What it does is confirm to the 22 that the ordinary life is a consolation being offered. The 4 on this page comes from one clause in the 22's list, and that clause is the tradition telling a 22 what they need rather than telling a 6 what they get.
Twenty-two names 6 as compatible and 6's own lists say nothing back. A one-way match adds a single point to the neutral 3.
Keeps the life the work is supposedly for from becoming theoretical. The tradition says most 22 relationships fail on absence, and this is the pairing it thinks best survives it.
Because it confirms what the 22 fears. Reassuring somebody that an ordinary life is enough reads, to this path, as the consolation prize being offered.
Competence in a crisis, and no requirement to discuss it. For a number that is always the fixer, being fixed is an unusual experience.
